TFHP is a medium-sized enterprise with about 100 employees. The company has been in existence for 50 years and works in the following fields: 10% industrial electronics, 10% automation technology, 30% manufacturing of illuminated sight glasses, process observation and visual control systems and 50% rehabilitation technology.

The business is organized in accordance to ISO 9001 had has the certificate since 1993. Designed quality is the company´s goal.

The rehabilitation division is engaged in the development, production and distribution of electronic devices for the blind and visually impaired. The division exists for about 30 years. The products have been introduced under the brand names: BRAILLEX, NOTEX, 2D SCREEN, EL Family, VISULEX-BIMAG, VISULEX-Optimag.

With BRAILLEX and NOTEX, electronically-stored data are displayed in braille using piezoelectric and electromagnetic braille displays. BRAILLEX 2D Screen is a hard- and software based adaptation for PC´s on the basis of as braille display. The VISULEX devices represent data in large print.

The company develops, manufactures and markets electronic components printed circuit boards, equipment and control units in the specialised areas of industrial electronics and automation technology.

The company has developed systems for hard- and software. Design and layout of printed circuit boards is carried out on CAD systems. The company has experiences with various programming languages from Assembler to C++.

FHP has production facilities for manufacturing printed circuit boards with normal electronic components and for SMD components. Test equipment such as incircuit-test and climate chambers are available for quality control. Specialised staff are available to work with there resources.

In the specialised areas of rehabilitation FHP has a sales and service network throughout Europe and US. The company´s goal is high rehability of its equipment.

Until now, FHP has equipped about 3,500 working places for blind people. From the beginning of its engagement in the rehabilitation technology field, FHP has always been in close contact with universities and research institutions. Currently the company is working together with the following institutions and individuals:
University, Dortmund, Ruhr-University, Bochum, University, Stuttgart, Märkische Fachhochschule, Iserlohn, Fachhochschule Harz, Werningerode.

FHP was involved as industrial partner in the EC project GUIB/MATHXS, MoBIC and TeDUB.
